Privacy and Terms
Plain English, because a game for kids and their parents deserves it. This page describes exactly what the game does. Effective 11 September 2026.
Who we are
LASSO is a browser game at playlasso.com, run by Nicholas Powell ("we", "the ranch"). Questions: use Holler at the ranch in the game, write to support@playlasso.com, or use the No more news from the ranch link in any email.
What we collect, and why

Your network address. When you open the game or ride, we note the internet address you came from (the last few, on your account) and, in the ranch office, place it roughly on a map by city and country using a lookup service. This is how we tell one household or one phone network from a crowd, spot accounts made in bulk, and keep the arenas fair. It is never shown to other riders and never sold. Ask and we delete it with the rest of your account.
What we do not do
- No advertising networks, no third-party trackers, no analytics scripts from other companies. Our own event log is the whole story.
- No selling or renting your information. Ever.
- No passwords. Protecting your account is a one-time code to your email.
- No chat. Riders can only send a fixed set of hollers ("Yeehaw!", "Nice loop!"), so there is nothing to moderate or read.
Children
LASSO can be played without giving us any personal information at all: no name is required (a suggested one works), and no email is needed to play. An email is only asked for to protect an account, claim a promo code, or get news, and a parent or guardian should be the one to provide it for a child under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 gave us an email without a parent's permission, we delete it: holler at the ranch and we will.
Code emails and the welcome note are sent because you asked. News from the ranch is marketing: every one carries a No more news from the ranch link that stops it with one click, and we only send it to riders who protected their account. Mail is sent from our own server; no third party sees it.
The closed test. If you sign up at /ride-early we keep the name and email you gave us, whether you have an Android phone, and whether you claimed your tester Gold, for the length of the test: that is how we send the install link and the code, and how we know the test is working. Google Play sees the email because you become a tester there. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and the list is deleted when the test ends.
Payments
Gold packs, items and the corral Deed are sold through Stripe. Stripe collects and stores the card; we receive a confirmation and the item is granted. Refunds: holler at the ranch with the email you paid with.
Cookies and storage
We do not use cookies. Your browser's local storage holds your rider ID, your name, your preferred game type, and small conveniences such as which nudges you have dismissed. Clearing site data forgets them; a protected account gets everything back.
Your choices
- Delete your account: in the game, the ranch button → Account → Delete my account; or at playlasso.com/delete-account, with the email on the account. It is gone at once, for good.
- See your data: holler at the ranch with your rider code (the six characters on your share card) or your email and we will send you a copy within 30 days.
- Stop marketing email: the link in any email, or ask us.
- Change your email: Your style → Protect your account → change.
Terms, in short
- Play fair. Cheating, bot-running or abusing other riders gets an account turned away from the arena.
- Silver, Gold and cosmetics are licences to use in LASSO, not property; they have no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded except where the law requires.
- Crowns are earned, never sold. Promo and referral Gold are gifts and can be withdrawn if abused.
- A corral owner may turn away or ban riders from their corral. We may close a corral that breaks these rules.
- The game is provided as is; we may change or end features, but we will never take away something you paid for without a refund.
Changes to this page
If we change what we collect or why, we update this page and the date at the top, and riders with a protected account get an email about anything that matters.
